Abstract

[Abstract]: The objective of this work is to compare two specific financial options: a call with a long position, which will be the reference option, and the combination of bought guts options. Through the analysis, it is intended to understand both strategies under different market conditions, also evaluating their profitability, risk exposure, advantages and disadvantages and viability. In the first part of the work, the theoretical framework necessary to understand the study is mainly developed, addressing fundamental concepts of options, the Scholes and a sensitivity analysis where price developments are affected. This is how the risks and advantages of the strategy that can be obtained before purchase are analysed. On the other hand, the second part consists in studying how the strategy acts once contracted. To do this, different simulations are performed that represent different market scenarios: bullish, bearish, stable and moderate. They calculate and study various variables such as averages, dispersions and different statistics that allow the performance of strategies to be evaluated. This work aims to compare the results of each strategy in the light of market developments in order to identify situations where it might be more profitable for an investor to hire one. Finally, the work concludes with the main advantages and disadvantages, reflecting on the use of strategies in real environments and providing a critical vision in the different market scenarios studied, where it should be noted that the strategy studied may be viable at specific times when high volatility and movements in the market are expected, but is not efficient as a sustainable strategy over a long period of time.
