Abstract

[Resumen:] Hoy en día ya es conocido que la contaminación de las aguas de escorrentía superficial urbana puede aportar, en cierto tipo de cuencas, cargas de contaminación significativas a los medios acuáticos receptores. En la actualidad, en la Unión Europea, según la Directiva Marco del Agua, las aguas de escorrentía de calles, carreteras y autopistas deben ser consideradas como “presiones” a valorar, por lo que es preciso su análisis con el fin de analizar si generan impactos sobre las masas de agua. El estudio, o caso, que se desea presentar se centra en el análisis de la presencia de metales pesados en las escorrentías de viales con una intensidad de tráfico significativa. Se ha medido la contaminación (DQO, DBO5, SS, nutrientes, metales pesados, HAPs) en los flujos de escorrentía (hidrogramas y polutogramas) de una travesía urbana de cuatro carriles con una considerable intensidad de tráfico (18.000 de IMD) que es vertida finalmente a la ría de Ferrol (zona sensible, Galicia, España). A partir de los datos obtenidos se realiza una valoración de las formas en que se presentan los metales pesados y su correlación con otros contaminantes. A partir de estas correlaciones se proponen unos determinados parámetros indicadores de este tipo de contaminación.
