Abstract

[Resumen] La pérdida perinatal constituye una experiencia emocionalmente devastadora para los progenitores, cuyo duelo se puede prolongar durante un largo periodo de tiempo y en muchas ocasiones de forma silenciosa. El duelo perinatal requiere de una gran sensibilidad social y de la especialización de los profesionales que lo atienden. La atención y cuidado de las pérdidas perinatales nos exige validar el dolor y reconocer la pérdida evitando invisibilizar la experiencia. Tiene gran importancia el acompañamiento durante todo el proceso, desde el momento de la confirmación del fallecimiento hasta tiempo después del alta hospitalaria. La falta de apoyo podría tener efectos negativos sobre el proceso de duelo al desautorizar la identidad de las madres, padres y del bebé, además de restarle significado a la muerte. Para los profesionales el abordaje de una pérdida perinatal es un proceso complejo, que requiere capacitación y formación. Se trata de una experiencia traumática tanto para ellos como para los progenitores. Es necesaria la formación específica en este ámbito para una correcta vivencia de los progenitores en su proceso de duelo.
