Abstract

[Resumen] Se presenta un estudio de caso representativo de superdiversidad migratoria en el medio rural: el municipio portugués de Odemira. Se contextualiza el fenómeno dentro de las tendencias migratorias tras la crisis económica global y se identifican algunos de los principales temas que confluyen en su análisis: la llamada lifestyle migration, el turismo alternativo y de naturaleza, y los enclaves agrícolas globales. Asimismo, se discute el potencial y la relevancia de estos rural melting pots para el análisis sociológico.

[Résumé] On présente ici une étude de cas représentatif de la superdiversité migratoire en milieu rural : la commune portugaise d’Odemira. Le phénomène est contextualisé dans les tendances migratoires après la crise économique globale et on identifie quelques des principaux thèmes qui confluent dans son analyse : les migrations d’agrément, le tourisme alternatif et de nature et les enclaves agricoles globales. En même temps, le potentiel et la pertinence des rural melting pots pour l’analyse sociologique est discutée.

[Resumo] Apresenta-se um estudo de caso representativo da superdiversidade migratória no meio rural: o município português de Odemira. Contextualiza-se o fenómeno dentro das tendências migratórias após da crise económica global e identificam-se alguns dos principais temas que confluem em sua análise: a conhecida como lifestyle migration, o turismo alternativo e de natureza, e os enclaves agrícolas globais. Assim mesmo, aborda-se a importância e o potencial dos rural melting pots para a análise sociológica.

[Abstract] This article is about a case study on migration superdiversity in a rural setting: the Portuguese municipality of Odemira. The phenomenon is contextualized within post-crisis global migration trends to identify some of the main converging topics: lifestyle migration, nature or alternative tourism, and global agricultural enclaves. We bring forward the sociological relevance and possibilities of these rural melting pots.
