Abstract

[Abstract] The present work deals with the study of heat transfer in the storage tanks of onshore regasification terminals and the impact that heat transfer has on them. To this end, a brief introduction to the current situation of the gas market is initially made, followed by an analysis of the facilities that operate in our country, which will be carried out with the support of SketchUp and AutoCad software. Among them, one will be selected to evaluate it and differentiate the equipment and elements that operate in it to, finally, proceed to carry out the pertinent calculations in terms of transfer analysis. The Engineering Equation Solver (EES) software will be used to carry out the calculations that show whether the plant operates efficiently under the previously established criteria of volume of Boil-Off gas (BOG) generated inside the tanks, and with this evaluates the heat transfer. Finally, a thermal simulation will be carried out with the SolidWorks software of a regasification tank, and the similarities and differences of the values obtained between the EES calculations and the data extracted from the simulation will be concluded. This will demonstrate that they have the ability to prepare analysis and synthesis of theoretical-practical problems, design and optimization of facilities related to the field of marine engineering, as well as detect the need to improve and innovate energy systems, using documentation and support material from various parts of the world through the research of articles, books and other material in various languages, including English, fulfilling the lines of work set for this master's thesis.
