Abstract

[Abstract] In this FMP, a prediction of the EEOI in a gas carrier is made using a simulation model of the propulsion plant. In this model, various situations of behavior and maneuverability of the ship can be simulated under given meteorological conditions in parameterized energy spectra and dispersion diagrams, simulated computationally. Thus, an analysis methodology is proposed in the design phase that replaces empirical formulas and sea margins for predictions of demanded power or consumption, with data extracted from the mathematical model of the ship itself in navigation simulations. Thus, in the conceptual phase itself, data that is inherently more truthful than by formulation can be obtained and, therefore, more appropriate in two areas of growing importance, such as the operational energy efficiency indicator of the ship's energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP). In order to validate both the process and the simulator, the results of the simulations will be compared with real data from similar vessels. The scope is not only a proposed methodology, but the scope per se includes its validation with the EEOI of the consumption book of an existing gas carrier.
