Abstract

[Abastract] Introduction: In recent years, various disciplines have proposed virtual reality as a form of intervention for people with phobias. These phobias cause different limitations in the occupational participation of people and, therefore, an occupational imbalance. This is the case of people with agoraphobia, since they cannot carry out their occupations beyond the interior of their home, as different episodes in their life history prevent them from being able to go out into the street without feeling anxious. Occupational Therapy seeks to enable occupational participation of people through scenarios and games in which they are introduced through the use of virtual reality goggles. In addition, the use of virtual reality is a method that prepares people to be able to go back to the street and to be able to perform their lives in a totally independent way. Objective: To explore the benefits that virtual reality can bring to the occupational performance of people with agoraphobia.
