Abstract

[Abstract] Case Presentation: We describe the case of a 71 year old patient, referred from her primary care physician to the University Podiatry Clinic (CUP) for presenting onychocryptosis in both right foot hallux channels. Assessment: The signs of stage I onychocryptosis were observed. Vascular exploration, analytical evaluation and biomechanical exploration were performed. Plan of action: After failure or conservative treatment and depending on the clinic that presents, the patient decide to propose or chirurgical treatment by laser technique 1064 nm. Once the patient accepts the treatment and signs the informed consent, the intervention is carried out. Discussion: The patient was given a self-administered questionnaire of satisfaction with the surgical procedure. The results reflect a great general satisfaction of the patient with the laser technique of 1064 nm due to the minimal postoperative pain experienced and the short period of healing.
