[Resumen] La relación entre n10delo social y tipo individual y su evolución en las socieda-des luodernas constituye el núcleo central de esta reflexión, en la que se parte de la clásica diferenciación durkheiluiana para seguir la pista de la discusión teórica a lo largo del último siglo y medio. La polémica sobre la riqueza y su influencia en la modelación de un marco de sociedad democrática, aunque luanipulada, y de un paradigma humano libre, pero instrumentalizado, desetuboca en la crítica de la teoría de la elección racional y su canon de individualistuo metodológico.
