[Resumen] La adicción al trabajo es un término que ha adquirido importancia en los últimos años, se trata de un exceso de trabajo causado por un impulso incontrolable provocado por presiones internas, pero que sin embargo, el adicto no disfruta de su trabajo. Además el workaholism es un daño psicosocial ya que el trabajador que sufre esta adicción presenta problemas de malestar psicológico, estrés, irritación, etc. Existen una serie de atributos que aumentan las posibilidades de padecer este tipo de adicción y también diversas consecuencias, tanto a nivel individual como organización o social, por eso es importante tener en cuenta los posibles métodos de prevención. Así mismo, también es importante diferenciar workaholism de engagement ya que a primera vista podrían confundirse y esto sería perjudicial para la organización, ya que existe una gran diferencia de rendimiento laboral y productividad entre uno y otro.
[Abstract] Workaholism is a term that has purchased importance in the last years, treats of an excess of work caused by an uncontrallable impulse caused by internal pressures, but that however, the addict does not enjoy of his work. In addition the workaholism is a psychosocial damage since the worker that suffers this addiction presents problems of psychological unrest, stress, irritation, etc. Exist a series of attributes that increase the possibilities to suffer this type of addiction and also diverse consequences, both at an individual level like organisation or social, therefore it is important to take into account the possible methods of prevention. Also it is important to differentiate workaholism of engagement since at first sight they could confuse and this would be hurtful for the organisation, there is a great difference in work performance and productivity between one and the other.
