Abstract

[Abstract] Rare diseases are those that have a low incidence in the population. Despite being rare, these diseases affect large numbers of people, since according to the WHO, there are about 7,000 rare diseases affecting 7% of world population. In total, it is estimated that in Spain there are more than 3 million people with rare diseases. Most diseases are chronic and have no cure, so that living with a rare disease is an ongoing learning experience for patients and their families. The objectives of the study are to know the psychosocial care needs of patients with rare diseases and their families throughout the disease process. The methodology used in this study is the qualitative narrative methodology, through life histories and the population that we will include in this project are patients diagnosed with rare diseases and their families.
