Abstract

[Abstract] The human microbiome is the set of genomes of individual microorganisms that grow on the surface of the human body or inside it. This association involves the formation of a kind of supraorganism in which the microbes exceed 10 times the number of cells in the host itself (1014). The human microbiome has a very controversial origin and receives different names according to its location in the body. In the last decade, interest in its study has increased greatly as a new line of research. This is due to the increase in non-communicable diseases that are responsible for more than 68% of annual deaths worldwide. The studies carried out mainly take into account the composition or main nucleus of microorganisms that will be used as biomarkers to detect dysbiosis produced during diseases. The use of probiotics and prebiotics as possible solutions to these processes of alteration of the bacterial composition or function is also taken into account.
