Abstract

[Abstract] The critical analysis of ecological thinking in economics is done by examining the position that the different paradigms, existing in ecological-economic matter, give to the environment. The objective of the exegesis, -of a theoretical nature-, is to analyze first the most anthropocentric approach, represented by the neoclassical theory, -the ideological support of the capitalist economic structure-, which locates the environment in a marginal position, where it possesses the rank of vassal, subjected by the productive system through science and technology, with the pretension of satisfying through consumption the infinite desires of the human species. Through the analysis of the deficiencies and dire consequences of the more anthropocentric approach, it becomes clear the need to incorporate alternative theories, of a more ecocentric nature, where the economy is considered part of the environment, which is given a central importance, while defending the need to harmonize economic and ecological interests. In this work we have tried to clarify what the various existing theories on ecologicaleconomic matter consist of; make visible the environmental, social and economic consequences that derive from each approach; likewise, the theoretical ecocentric contributions are presented as possible measures to solve the problem of environmental oblivion by the capitalist productive system.
