Abstract

[Resumen] El pez cebra (Danio rerio) es un organismo muy útil para analizar los mecanismos implicados en la regeneración de tejido dañado en el sistema nervioso central de individuos adultos. En este estudio se ha empleado el Antígeno Nuclear de Proliferación Celular (PCNA) con el fin de demostrar la existencia de proliferación celular en el mesencéfalo de individuos adultos de esta especie. Mediante técnicas de inmunofluorescencia, se observó neurogénesis en diversas áreas del mesencéfalo. Los resultados obtenidos indican que existe gran proliferación celular activa en el toro longitudinal, así como en las regiones dorsomedial y ventrocaudal del techo óptico. También se observaron células positivas para PCNA en otras áreas del mesencéfalo. La distribución de las zonas de proliferación concuerda con las observadas en otros teleósteos. Además, la neurogénesis descrita en teleósteos es mayor que la estudiada en otros vertebrados superiores.

[Abstract] The zebrafish (Danio rerio) is a very useful organism to analyze the mechanisms involved in the regeneration of damaged tissue in the central nervous system of adult individuals. In this study the Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) has been used in order to demonstrate the existence of cell proliferation in the midbrain of adult individuals of this specie. By immunofluorescence techniques, neurogenesis was observed in several areas of the midbrain. The results obtained indicate that there is a great active cellular proliferation in the torus longitudinalis, as in the dorsomedial and ventrocaudal regions of the optic tectum. There also are PCNA positive cells in the rest of the midbrain. The distribution of proliferation zones agrees with those observed in other teleosts. In addition, the neurogenesis described in teleosts is greater than that studied in other higher vertebrates.

[Resumo] O peixe cebra (Danio rerio) é un organismo moi útil para analizar mecanismos implicados na rexeneración de tecido danado no sistema nervioso central de individuos adultos. Neste estudio empregouse o Antíxeno Nuclear de Proliferación Celular (PCNA) a fin de demostrar a existencia de proliferación celular no mesencéfalo de individuos adultos desta especie. Mediante técnicas de inmunofluorescencia, observouse neuroxénese en diversas áreas do mesencéfalo. Os resultados obtidos indican que existe unha gran proliferación celular activa no toro lonxitudinal, así como nas rexións dorsomedial e ventrocaudal do teito óptico. Tamén se observaron células positivas para PCNA noutras áreas do mesencéfalo. A distribución das zonas de proliferación concorda coas observadas noutros telósteos. Ademais, a neuroxénese descrita en telósteos é maior que a estudada noutros vertebrados superiores.
