[Resumen:] En este artículo se realiza una descripción general del método predictivo de la seguridad vial desarrollado en investigaciones impulsadas por las administraciones de transporte de Estados Unidos de Norteamérica en el marco del “Highway Safety Manual” (Manual de Seguridad Vial), presentando su estructura conceptual y los pasos básicos a seguir para su aplicación. Finalmente, se razona el interés de su estudio y divulgación, se plantea su posible adaptación a otras redes de carreteras y se ponen de manifiesto los futuros desarrollos para avanzar en la utilización de este método.
[Abstract:] This paper takes a general description of the road safety predictive method developed by United States research-driven transport administrations under the "Highway Safety Manual", raising conceptual structure and basic steps for implementation. Finally, the interest of the study and divulgation, possible adaptations to other road networks and future developments to advance the use of this method are presented.
