Abstract

[Abstract] The use of company archives and records is of great importance in research on the history of modern architecture. The set of images produced by a company in the development of his activity and which are kept as evidence and information can give us the knowledge of what has been the architecture demanded by each firm in their original condition and how it has been transformed throughout its life. In Spain, the modernization of factories and industry that takes place surpassed the Civil War and the subsequent autarchy found in the industrial photography the the ideal way to show to the society their achievements and progress, while becomes the showcase of new architectures that are introduced with the recovery of modernity. Most of these photographs are preserved in the factories archives and their analysis and enhancement could reach a wider knowledge of some works that marked a particularly significant moment in the recent history of Spanish architecture. Sometimes the effort made by companies to record or publicize their architecture offers us an immediate picture of the building process, often documented in all its phases, from the beginning of the setting-up to its implementation. This research focuses on revealing these images, accompanied by the discovery of its creators and the process of making snapshots, a topic of great interest to better understand the relationship between photography and architecture, analyzing their value as a documentary source for the history and recognizing the actual value of the images as artistic works.
