Abstract

[Abstract] Through this Final Project there were studied the effects of fire on the physical properties of soils, mainly considering the consequences on water repellency and some properties related to these parameters, such as acidity, the organic matter content, or texture. To mitigate the water repellency in burned soils has been applied an organic polymer with low cost and simple application called PAM. The result of this treatment has been studied in the laboratory with positive results after application. The main objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of water repellency, both control zone and area affected by fire, establishing a relationship between the different soils analyzed, in order to know how the water repellency influences soil recovery after suffering a wildfire. The results obtained after application of the organic polymer PAM to prove its effectiveness in reducing water repellency in burned soils were analyzed.
