Abstract

Día a día la sociedad requiere a los científicos ciertos métodos eficientes, económicos y rápidos para eliminar del aire sustancias de distinta índole causantes de problemas tanto de carácter humano como medioambiental. Uno de los grupos de compuestos químicos más interesantes y que más necesidad de eliminar se tiene, son los compuestos orgánicos volátiles, como puede ser el tolueno. Día a día, el aire que respiramos tiene concentraciones variables de estos compuestos, ya que sus usos son diversos en distintas ramas de nuestra vida. En este estudio se intentará optimizar diferentes factores para la correcta eliminación de tolueno mediante un tratamiento biológico. Se hará especial hincapié en la composición del medio a utilizar, así como de la cinética del proceso. Finalmente, se realizará un estudio durante 12 días de un reactor de biomasa suspendida y se analizará su potencial eficacia para dicha eliminación. Las determinaciones se harán realizando métodos analíticos elementales, como puede ser la cromatografía de gases con detector de llama, también la cromatografía de gases con detector termal de electrones, y la absorción molecular. Los resultados obtenidos dan una gran idea sobre dicho proceso y sus consecuencias, abriendo una amplia gama de posibilidades para continuar con dicho estudio.
