Abstract

[Abstract]Homework is one of the most complex constructs addressing research from educational and psychological realm. In this research, including a sample of 13 educational centers with a total of 897 subjects tested (50.2% men and 49.8% women belonging to the 5th and 6th levels of education primary, between 9 and 13) the relationship of homework motivation and academic achievement in the area of mathematics is discussed. The main objectives of this investigation are to analyze the differences in the studied variables depending on the course and gender, to analyze differences in personal variables and the perception of students of some contextual variables based on different levels of academic performance and, finally, to analyze the predictive capacity of each of the variables related on homework on mathematics academic achievement. Among the conclusions of our research the amount of prescribed homework, the review thereof by the teacher, the implication of this and the family, perceived competence and positive attitudes towards mathematics and the lack of negative feelings and anxiety towards them were key in the academic achievement of students in this area of our research object. Gender differences and of course the subject of the sample with respect to the variables under study are detected
