Abstract

Local migration chains from Galicia (Spain) to Cuba made it possible for immigrants of certain areas of Galicia to establish in the island ethnic economies and labour and ownership enclaves from which workers from Cuba and other areas of Spain were excluded. The members of these etnical labour an entrepreneurs niches managed to gain the director´s boards of their labour and ownersip organizations. Their local leaders, in their aim for social promotion, persuaded their fellow countrymen to create microsocieties on a local basis, using their parish leadership to win the directors boards of the biggest regional associations, from which they led their regional community on the island.
