Abstract

[Abstract]: The present work aims to carry out a descriptive analysis of the risk/return trade-off in the financial assets of the IBEX35, establishing which assets have performed better during the period 2003-2012. To this end and in the first place, the risk/return variables have been analyzed separately. Then, the aforementioned variables have been examined conjointly through the so-called Performance Measures. To facilitate the analysis, the assets have been grouped into sectors, which will also serve to study the potential differences amongst them, as well as to determine which sectors have performed better. Additionally, the sample has been divided into two sub-periods marked by the onset of the global financial crisis at the end of 2007, thereby making it possible to examine whether or not significant differences can be appreciated between both periods. The study ends up with a series of conclusions drawn from the analysis of the selected data. Amongst other results, it is worth mentioning that, the Goods and Services Sector is the one that has performed better regarding the risk/return trade-off during the period analyzed
