Abstract

[Abstract] Introduction: Mother lactation is the best way of feeding our children, it provides several advantages as far as mothers and children are concerned. There is however a multifactorial great deal of lactation giving up before six months. We consider father support during and after pregnancy as one of these factors. Despite being an important factor it is not often taken into account and few studies have been made in our Health Area about father experience on breastfeeding, which might allow us to head for what fathers consider important as far as to reduce early breastfeeding abandon. General objective: to know father role and experience related to establishment and support breastfeeding. Specific objectives: • To know father perception as a basic element on establishment and keeping breastfeeding • To be aware of father knowledge about how an efficient support on breastfeeding should be. Methodology: We will use a qualitative methodology with phenomenological perspective based on a minimum of three semi-structured interviews taken at 35-36 weeks of pregnancy first, the day of medical discharge secondly, and three months after childbirth thirdly.
