Abstract

La Región Autónoma del Atlántico Norte está ubicada en el Noreste de Nicaragua. La población es multiétnica con mayoría Miskitos y Sumu-Mayangna que viven en condición de pobreza o extrema pobreza. La práctica de la agricultura se proyecta como un medio de vida de las familias de menor rendimiento y para auto sustento. Se describen el sistema agrosilvopastoril tradicional y las principales medidas de mitigación hacia el cambio climático identificadas Se realizó una investigación cualitativa para recopilar la tradición de los Sistemas Agroforestales y las medidas de adaptación al cambio climático en los sistemas productivos tradicionales Meskitos. Los sistemas agrosilvopastoriles ancestrales Meskitos incorporan varias buenas Practicas Agrícolas que permiten mejorar la dieta, la conservación del suelo y agua, y aumentar la resiliencia hacia el Cambio Climático. Por tanto resulta de suma importancia apoyar la replicación de estos sistemas ancestrales evitando su abandono en favor de técnicas de cultivos menos adaptadas. El nivel herbáceo resulto el más débil por la poca diversificación y falta de leguminosas. Las frutas son consumidas principalmente por los niños que la colectan y consumes por ellos directamente de la planta, con un aporte relevante de nutrientes a la dieta.
