Mujeres migrantes en un país en crisis

Abstract

¿Cuáles son los problemas que los migrantes, y especialmente las mujeres migrantes, enfrentan en Italia desde el inicio de la crisis económica, la que ha sido reforzada por las austeras políticas impuestas por el liderazgo germano de la Unión Europea? Datos recientes muestran que el desempleo está creciendo entre extranjeros, alcanzando el número de 318.000 personas en el segundo semestre de 2012 y de 385.000 en el primer semestre de 2013 sobre un total de 2.334.000 extranjeros activos. Además, estos datos indican que el porcentaje de desempleo es ahora más alto entre los extranjeros que entre los italianos: esta es una tendencia creciente, hasta 2010 ocurría lo contrario (Ministerio del Trabajo, 2013). Al mismo tiempo, la demanda por trabajo domestico, luego de una breve y limitada debacle en 2010 y 2011, está creciendo. Hay razones estructurales para esta paradoja.
