Abstract

Il Dizionario biografico dei giuristi italiani comprende le biografie di oltre 2000 giuristi, per un arco di tempo che va dal Medioevo al Ventesimo secolo. Le singole voci, redatte da specialisti del settore, riguardano figure che da prospettive diverse - nell’Università o in magistratura, nella professione forense o nel notariato, nelle istituzioni o nella vita intellettuale - hanno contribuito allo sviluppo del sapere giuridico. Obiettivo dell’opera è tracciare, attraverso le biografie dei personaggi, una mappa di nove secoli di cultura giuridica italiana, da cui sia possibile cogliere i principali atteggiamenti della dottrina, i generi letterari utilizzati, le fonti normative di volta in volta vigenti, il processo di formazione e articolazione delle diverse discipline, le scuole e, non da ultimo, il ruolo dei giuristi nei vari contesti sociali e politici in cui furono impegnati.
