Cenni di bioclimatologia e stress climatici estivi in Toscana

Abstract

L’ articolo descrive un fenomeno climatico ricorrente ormai da diversi anni anche in Toscana, cioè gli stress climatici estivi percepiti dalla popolazione locale come derivanti dalle ondate di calore. Negli si rileva negli ultimi anni la loro più frequente ricorrenza nel periodo estivo come pure la loro crescente persistenza in termini di giorni. L’ articolo descrive come le ondate di calore si manifestano con varianti locali differenziate in zone climatiche omogenee nella Regione, dovute alle diverse configurazioni orografiche e distanze dal mare o dagli Appennini. L’ Italia centrale ricade spesso nelle aree di più elevata anomalia positiva della temperatura media estiva, come rilevato dalle mappe periodiche del National Oceanic and Atmoshepric Administration, di cui viene fornito un esempio. Si illustrano gli indici biometeorologici elaborati da diversi organismi pubblici pertinenti quali il Lamma, l’ Ibimet e l’ Arpat. Tali indici, di cui alcuni anche a frequenza di previsione giornaliera, forniscono indicazioni di previsto stress climatico estivo nelle diverse province della Regione, con possibili livelli di attenzione per le fasce di età più a rischio, come anziani e bambini. Infine si accenna agli effetti delle ondate di calore estive sulla vegetazione e sui cicli stagionali dell’ agricoltura nella Regione, con anomalie riscontrate in fioriture anticipate, aumenti di pollini allergenici, ritardi dell’ inizio dell’ autunno e conseguenti allungamenti della stagione vegetativa.
