Abstract

Avvalendosi dell’esperienza compiuta in anni di riflessione sul tema (va ricordata in proposito almeno la realizzazione del Museo del paesaggio presso Siena, 1999) l’autore definisce lo spazio teorico entro cui si può in geografia da un lato considerare il “bene culturale”, dall’altro farlo oggetto di indagine disciplinare. Definiti i tre principali dominii di tale spazio teorico (la visione topografica, la concezione storico-territoriale, la concezione geoculturale) si argomenta – con ampio corredo di esemplificazioni - sulla particolare fecondità di quest’ultima impostazione, a patto che essa sia guidata da un solido impianto teorico; e sulla possibile “operazionalizzazione” di essa a fine di indagine empirica e di conseguenza di sviluppo e coesione territoriale. Il testo è un contributo a un volume la cui ratio è la messa a punto in compendio dei principali concetti chiave della geografia contemporanea. Il volume rappresenta il primo tentativo del genere condotto in Italia successivamente all’avvento in geografia di quel cultural turn, che ha innovato radicalmente i termini della riflessione disciplinare.
