Morfologia della struttura urbana della periferia di Roma

Abstract

Dalla metà dell’ottocento ad oggi la crescita continuativa della città di Roma si attua sempre di più per “piani” e per “progetti urbani” con una prassi operativa improntata da contenuti concettuali che si modificano e si distinguono per periodi storici in maniera precisa: di volta in volta gli intenti pianificatori accentuano progressivamente il distacco dal costruito antecedente e dalle regole formative elaborate nella costituzione morfologica della città antica. Così le pianificazioni ottocentesche figurano più contigue alla città “com’era”, mentre lo sono già meno quelle realizzate fino alla prima guerra mondiale, che si caratterizzavano per essere attuate di solito con tessuti viari a maglie ortogonali. Ulteriormente sempre più astraenti sono quelle tra le due guerre mondiali improntate generalmente da realizzazioni morfologiche per impianti radiali. Fino alle ultime pianificazioni, successive all’ultimo conflitto mondiale, dove il piano diventa una griglia solo quantitativa e cresce invece il compito del progetto che deve risolvere l’assetto globale di ciascun quartiere: normalmente il disegno del nuovo non ha alcuna relazione con i quartieri finitimi preesistenti e perde in tal modo il senso e la continuità spaziale, propri del tessuto urbano
