The small villages of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines are precious cultural treasures affected by the phenomenon of depopulation. The issue has been very relevant since the Second World War and is mainly caused by the economic conditions and the lack of infrastructure and services. The area is also subject to natural risks, in particular hydrogeological instability and seismic risk due to its geological origin. An effective strategy for the conservation and recovery of the historic villages of the Apennines can be the union of objectives of mitigation of seismic vulnerability and socio-economic revitalization. The contribution describes the survey experience conducted on the mu- nicipality of Premilcuore (FC). Some upgrades of a multiscale analysis of the seismic vulnerability of the building heritage have been tested on the town such as the verifi- cation of the functionality of the urban civil protection tools, the definition of specific anti-seismic recovery plans and the estimate of the economic resources necessary for safety.
