Abstract

Il presente testo riporta argomenti di base della Petrografia e Petrologia, affronta in maniera semplificata gli argomenti chiave relativi alle rocce e fornisce le conoscenze di base che, espungendo gli eccessi di dettaglio, focalizzano soltanto le nozioni e i concetti fondamentali per lo studio di questi oggetti naturali. Esso è suddiviso in tre parti che riguardano rispettivamente i principi di base della Petrologia e Petrografia magmatica, sedimentaria e metamorfica. Le appendici forniscono il quadro geodinamico della petrogenesi e illustrano il ciclo litogenetico, cioè il percorso delle rocce nella loro trasformazione da un tipo nell’altro. Ciascun capitolo contiene delle schede illustrative che approfondisco specifici temi non trattati nel testo e alcuni esercizi finalizzati a una migliore comprensione degli argomenti fondamentali.
