Esperienze di Conservazione e Restauro. Didattica, Ricerca, Gestione dati e Progetto

Abstract

The restoration of historical building, from the monument to the widespread cultural heritage, is increasingly configured as a redevelopment action, expanding the concept of protection as an indispensable defence factor, not only for monuments and artworks but for the identity of the territory and its resources as well. The architects had historically accompanied the evolution of the discipline of restoration, both in theory and in practice, declined in the modern conservation science. In this growth process, key figures of scientific and humanistic culture have given their fundamental critical and technical contribution; they have established and shaped the training guidelines to be pursued in university faculties. However, nowadays this link between architects and restoration is no longer univocal. The restoration takes on a multidisciplinary connotation that needs to be 'exercised' in a continuous comparison between old and new professions, in order to be able to meet the multiple inputs and changes taking place. For this reason, the conservation and restoration experiences in question arise first in the activities of the basic and specialized teaching laboratories. These are in fact the main places of learning, experimentation and research where to acquire the necessary skills to deal with the complex issues that link conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage: archaeological, architectural, art-historical and landscape
