On the basis of the available sources, the essay reconstructs the international diplomatic juncture in Moscow at the arrival of Maxim the Greek (1518) highlighting his relations with the Greek Diaspora both in the West and in Russia and the role of papal diplomacy, above all of the Dominican order that worked for the establishment of an anti-Turkish league that also included Moscow.
