Exploring the potential invasiveness of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus in Mediterranean mountains

Abstract

The paper summarizes several studies carried out on the epidemiology, ecophysiology and genetics of the populations of Hymenoschyphus fraxineus, the invasive pathogen that causes ash dieback in Europe, at the southern limit of the distribution range in the Northern Apennines. The aim was to explore the potential of the pathogen to establish itself and become invasive at that locations and at sites with similar climatic conditions in the Mediterranean mountains.
