Abstract

È Milano la prima città italiana a far parte della collana On the Road. L’anno di pubblicazione della guida, il 2015, è anche l’anno in cui si realizza l’Esposizione Universale a Milano. Negli ultimi anni il capolouogo lombardo è diventato una metropoli coinvolta in cambiamenti degni di attenzione per la sperimentazione architettonica ed urbanistica. La complessa dialettica tra innovazione e rispetto della forma urbana esistente è il carattere distintivo di Milano: il recupero di quartieri, la rigenerazione di aree industriali dismesse, la sperimentazione tecnologica, lo sviluppo in altezza, sono i tratti che segnano Milano come città profondamente contemporanea. La guida nasce, pertanto, in risposta al momento di grande attenzione che sta confluendo sulla metropoli. Nel condurre il lettore tra le numerose architetture contemporanee, essa non fa altro che evidenziare la peculiarità del suo complesso carattere. Le trasformazioni sono ancora in atto e per questo appare difficile prevedere come una città di tali dimensioni ridefinirà i propri equilibri: anche ciò fa parte della contemporaneità di Milano.
