No soy de aquí, ni soy de allá… Alterización y categorías de identificación en la generación de los hijos de inmigrantes bolivianos y paraguayos en Buenos Aires

Abstract

Teniendo en cuenta la importancia de ambas corrientes migratorias hacia esta área urbana y el contexto discriminatorio en que se ha definido a estos migrantes como “no deseados”, este trabajo analiza las formas de identificación de los hijos de inmigrantes bolivianos y paraguayos en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Las identificaciones de la “generación” que conforman estos descendientes se examinan tanto dentro de la estructura familiar (es decir, como "hijos" en la genealogía) como dentro de la estructura etaria más general (en este caso, como "jóvenes" urbanos de sectores populares). Del análisis de materiales provenientes de un trabajo de campo etnográfico, se mostrarán maneras en que las representaciones sociales (estereotipos, imágenes públicas) tienen efectos tanto en las relaciones sociales inter-generacionales como en la auto-presentación y las prácticas de los hijos de migrantes bolivianos y paraguayos comparativamente. Así podrá definirse a estos descendientes como parte de una generación entendida como un grupo con características sociológicas comunes vinculadas a cierta coyuntura histórica y política particular. Esto, en última instancia, permitirá comprender algunas articulaciones entre esas identificaciones y ciertas formas de participación social desplegadas por los jóvenes hijos.
