Immunization has contributed to an impressive reduction in morbidity and mortality of infectious diseases. As diseases are brought under control and public opinion desires ethical review of immunization and health delivery costs, accepted practices are questioned. Current controversies in viral immunization are raised and discussed in light of recent findings.
