
Capsule endoscopy enables inspection of the gastrointestinal tract without discomfort or need for sedation and thus obviates the risks associated with traditional endoscopy. This review presents an update on small bowel capsule endoscopy since its introduction in 2001. We will review salient features of the small-bowel capsule endoscopy devices, clinical indications, possible complications and special situations during the study.
