Patients may want to use their own ventilators or continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) units when admitted to the hospital; however, doing so presents many risks. While ECRI Institute generally recommends against allowing patients to use their own ventilators or CPAP units in the hospital, exceptions can be justified in some circumstances, and your facility should have a process in place to assess the risks on a case-by-case basis.
