Terápia génica en retinosis pigmentaria

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se ha efectuado una exhaustiva revisión bibliográfica, a través de artículos científicos y libros especializados, sobre los posibles tratamientos que se podrían aplicar para la Retinosis Pigmentaria. Esta enfermedad hereditaria y degenerativa de la retina, no tiene, por el momento, solución posible, aunque se está investigando en este aspecto para encontrar algún método que permita tratarlo o, al menos, ralentizarlo. En este trabajo se ha centrado la atención en la terapia génica, ya que, al tratarse de una enfermedad provocada en la mayoría de los casos por mutaciones en genes o proteínas, el intentar profundizar este aspecto podría ser beneficioso para un posible tratamiento. En la realización del trabajo, se ha estructurado de modo que se pueda entender la parte de terapia génica, es decir, haciendo una breve explicación sobre la enfermedad, sus tipos, la sintomatología que produce, una corta explicación sobre procesos que se suceden en la retina, y la localización hasta el momento de los genes defectuosos que provocan la enfermedad. Por último se exponen las terapias que se están investigando para cada tipo de retinosis pigmentaria.
