Abstract

La pràctica esportiva de persones cegues i discapacitades visuals, especialment l’atletisme, ha evolucionat en el curs de la història, no només com a mitjà d’integració d’aquesta població en la societat sinó també com a recurs de rehabilitació de l’individu davant el seu dèficit. El que m’ha portat a triar la discapacitat visual en l’atletisme com a tema del meu Treball de Final de Grau ha estat la voluntat de conèixer amb més profunditat aquesta condició visual, i relacionar-la amb la pràctica d’un esport que conec bé. En la meva trajectòria personal he compartit entrenaments amb dos atletes paralímpics i, com a futura òptica-optometrista, m’ha semblat motivador ampliar la meva formació en el coneixement de la deficiència visual, no només per entendre-la com una condició visual sinó com una circumstància vital. El meu interès com a atleta era conèixer les particularitats de l’atletisme adaptat i concretament de l’atletisme paralímpic respecte l’atletisme olímpic, i el meu objectiu formatiu m’ha portat a documentar-me sobre la discapacitat visual atenent a diferents aspectes: terminologia i categorització emprades, dades epidemiològiques, particularitats de l’avaluació optomètrica, i variables psicosocials que intervenen en l’ajust al dèficit, entre altres.
