A synthesis method of uniform cylindrical waves of finite extension is presented, based on an optimized linear current distribution, obtained by an iterative method in the espectral domain. Substituting in a cylindrical near field the probe by an antenna with this optimized current distribution, a semicompact range results. This system will permit a fast calculation of far field pattern cuts from a single antenna rotation.
