Análisis de las prestaciones de un esquema de codificación lineal aleatoria sobre redes inalámbricas

Abstract

Este trabajo presenta un novedoso esquema de Network coding intra-flujo, que une un esquema de codificación aleatoria (Random Linear Combination, RLC) con el protocolo UDP. Esta combinación ofrece un servicio fiable, que garantiza la recepción ordenada de todos los mensajes enviados por el nivel de aplicación de la estación transmisora. Así, se compara sus prestaciones con las de una transmisión TCP, solución tradicional para ofrecer el mismo tipo de servicio, a través de una extensa campaña de simulación sobre redes IEEE 802.11, con la herramienta ns-3. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto una mejora de hasta un 20% sobre un canal ideal. Se propone además el intercambio de una semilla aleatoria, para aliviar la sobrecarga de las cabeceras del protocolo. Por otro lado, cuando las condiciones del canal empeoran, la solución conseguirá enmascarar la aparición de errores, manteniendo un throughput notablemente superior al ofrecido por TCP.
