Abstract

En aplicaciones de 3DTV, el elevado número de diferentes vistas (cámaras) hace que la cantidad de datos a enviar sea muy elevada. Además, para poder tener aplicaciones de Free View Point Video, a menudo se envían también los mapas de profundidad asociados a cada vista, en lo que se conoce como Multiview+Depth (MVD) data. En este proyecto se desarrollan soluciones para codificar de forma eficiente los mapas de profundidad con el objetivo de reducir el bitrate necesario.

En aplicacions de 3D TV, l'elevat nombre de diferents vistes (càmeres) fa que la quantitat de dades a enviar sigui molt elevada. A més, per poder tenir aplicacions de Free View Point Video, sovint s'envien també els mapes de profunditat associats a cada vista en el que es coneix com a Multiview+Depth (MVD) data. En aquest projecte es desenvolupen solucions per tal de codificar de forma eficient els mapes de profunditat amb l'objectiu de reduir el bitrate necessari.

In 3DTV applications, a large amount of data is transmitted due to the high number of different views. Moreover, to get Fee View Point Video services, usually depth maps are sent together with each view, in what is known as Multiview+Depth (MVD) data. In this project different solutions are developed with the aim of efficiently encode the depth maps and so reduce the bitrate needed.
