Binary quadratic forms

Abstract

El trabajo consta de dos partes. En la primera se estudia la teoría clásica de formas binarias cuadráticas con coeficientes enteros. Todas las herramientas relacionadas con la equivalencia entre formas, incluído el grupo de clases, se han introducido para continuar hayando las formas reducidas de cada clase. Finalmente se demuestra que el grupo de clases es efectivamente un grupo, para lo que es necesario definir la composición de formas. En la segunda parte hemos seguido el mismo esquema considerando las formas binarias cuyos coeficientes pertenecen al anillo de polinomios con coeficientes en un cuerpo finito. Muchos de los resultados son prácticamente iguales, pero en algunos puntos el comportamiento de estas formas difiere del de las clásicas, lo que hace más interesante esta teoría, aunque provocando también que dejemos algunos cabos sueltos.
