Fabricación y caracterización de paneles sándwich polipropileno/polipropileno autoreforzado

Abstract

En este trabajo se han fabricado y estudiado las propiedades resultantes de paneles tipo sándwich constituidos por un núcleo de polipropileno copolímero, -eventualmente espumado-, unido a dos láminas hechas con fibras de polipropileno de alto módulo compactadas (Curv¿). Para la fabricación de los paneles se ha seguido el método de sobreinyección, colocando primeramente a ambos lados de un molde las dos láminas de polipropileno autoreforzado e inyectando en el interior el núcleo. La temperatura de inyección del núcleo se ha mantenido constante observándose, no obstante, que es necesario alcanzar una temperatura mínima de 80ºC en las láminas externas para conseguir adhesión cohesiva. Bajo estas condiciones y en ensayos de peeling se observa la decohesión de las fibras de las láminas, mientras que los paneles sándwich inyectados a temperatura ambiente el fallo es de tipo adhesivo a través de la unión lámina-núcleo. La caracterización mecánica muestra que la presencia del polipropileno autoreforzado incrementa notablemente las propiedades en flexión. Bajo condiciones de impacto a temperatura ambiente se observaron diferentes tipos de fallo básicamente por rotura del núcleo o delaminación, resultando éstas últimas en los menores valores de energías de impacto.
