Plantas andinas y sus usos tradicionales: los recursos fitogenéticos del valle de Santa Victoria.

Abstract

En el noroeste argentino, allí donde Salta envuelve a Jujuy y limita con Bolivia, en un trayecto de algunas decenas de kilómetros un viajero puede pasar de desplazarse de cerca de 5000m sobre el nivel del mar, en el duro medio altoandino, a las exuberantes selvas húmedas de las yungas, situadas a poco más de 1000m de altitud. Si continúa en dirección al sudeste llegará al seco y espinoso monte chaqueño, a solo unos cientos de metros sobre el nivel del mar. Esa variedad de ambientes naturales está unida a una notable biodiversidad, parte de cuya componente botánica explica este artículo, lo mismo que las razones por las que no ha sufrido violentos cambios a lo largo de los años.
