Recuperación de oro de lixiviados de residuos electrónicos

Abstract

El uso de dispositivos electrónicos ha aumentado vertiginosamente en las últimas décadas y . ha derivado en un crecimiento exponencial de los residuos electrónicos. Grandes cantidades de estos residuos no son reciclados óptimamente y en muchos casos no son tratados, creando consecuencias importantes tanto económicas, ecológicas y de control ambiental. Las placas de circuito impreso (PCB) presentes en muchos de estos dispositivos constituyen uno de los materiales más interesantes en cuanto a posibilidades de recuperación de metales por su alto contenido o por su valor. De hecho, se estima que entre el 65% y un 80% de las partes de los aparatos móviles pueden ser aprovechadas. El reciclaje de estos metales trae consigo el ahorro de recursos y protege el medio ambiente. Además, que los Las PCBs contienen metales, como plomo, cromo, cadmio y se convierten en residuos peligrosos cuando son desechados de manera inadecuada: por otro lado, las PCBs contienen metales de alto valor como el oro. La investigación de la recuperación de oro por la vía hidrometalúrgica, mediante la lixiviación química de residuos electrónicos para la obtención de este metal se perfila como un campo estratégico debido al alto valor del metal. El presente trabajo consistió en una búsqueda sistemática y revisión de los estudios descritos en la bibliografía de los distintos procesos de recuperación oro de lixiviados químicos de placas de circuito impreso, incidiendo en el proceso final para obtener oro sólido.

L'ús de dispositius electrònics ha augmentat vertiginosament en les últimes dècades, cosa que ha derivat en un creixement exponencial dels residus electrònics. Grans quantitats d'aquests residus no es reciclen òptimament i, en molts casos, no es tracten, fet que genera conseqüències importants tant econòmiques com ecològiques i de control ambiental. Les plaques de circuit imprès (PCB) presents en molts d'aquests dispositius constitueixen un dels materials més interessants pel que fa a les possibilitats de recuperació de metalls, ja sigui pel seu alt contingut o pel seu valor. De fet, s'estima que entre el 65% i un 80% de les parts dels aparells mòbils poden ser aprofitades. El reciclatge d'aquests metalls comporta l'estalvi de recursos i protegeix el medi ambient. A més, les PCB contenen metalls com ara plom, crom i cadmi, i es converteixen en residus perillosos quan es devaluen de manera inadequada; d'altra banda, les PCB contenen metalls d'alt valor com l'or. La investigació de la recuperació d'or per la via hidrometal·lúrgica, mitjançant la lixiviació química de residus electrònics per a l'obtenció d'aquest metall, es perfila com un camp estratègic a causa de l'alt valor del metall. El present treball ha consistit en una cerca sistemàtica i revisió dels estudis descrits en la bibliografia sobre els diferents processos de recuperació d'or de lixiviats químics de plaques de circuit imprès, incidint en el procés final per obtenir or sòlid.

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) found in many of these devices represent one of the most interesting materials for metal recovery due to their high content and value. In fact, it is estimated that between 65% and 80% of the components in mobile devices can be recovered. Recycling these metals leads to resource savings and protects the environment. Furthermore, while PCBs contain metals such as lead, chromium, and cadmium—which become hazardous waste when disposed of improperly—they also contain high-value metals such as gold. Research into gold recovery via the hydrometallurgical route, using chemical leaching of electronic waste to obtain this metal, is emerging as a strategic field due to the metal's high market value. The present work consists of a systematic search and review of studies described in the literature regarding the various processes for recovering gold from chemical leachates of printed circuit boards, focusing on the final stage of obtaining solid gold.
