Abstract

This bachelor thesis analyses the conversion of former factories into educational facilities in Catalonia, focusing on how industrial heritage has been reinterpreted through adaptive reuse. Nine case studies are used to analyse the historical background of each building, the architectural process of conversion and the role of industrial memory in the spaces created. The study aims to understand how the industrial character is integrated into contemporary educational environments, not only in formal and material terms, but also as a carrier of historical, social and cultural values. A comparative analysis of plans, sections, elevations and interiors - especially classrooms - shows how these interventions create new layers of meaning and function, reshaping industrial heritage as a relevant and meaningful resource in the present.
