Abstract

La física no ha estat sempre una disciplina aliena a la medicina. Antigament, els físics eren aquells metges, especialment teòrics, que es dedicaven a l’estudi del cos, de les malalties i dels remeis. Ferragud explica que a la Baixa Edat Mitjana hi havia metges físics i metges cirurgians; els físics eren els que dominaven els continguts doctrinals i podien explicar la causa de les malalties i tractar-les en conseqüència, feien els diagnòstics a part ir de l’observació de l’orina i la presa del pols dels malalts, mentre que les accions manuals es reservaven per als barbers, cirurgians i apotecaris.
