Abstract

The main topic is the hydrosedimentological analysis of the Canal del Dique in Colombia and how its morphological changes have affected sediment discharge into Cartagena Bay. These alterations have led to an increase in sediment transport along the Canal del Dique, which has had a significant impact on the surrounding ecosystem and poses challenges for its ongoing management and maintenance. This work proposes solutions based on river restoration, through the calculation of the Canal's transport capacity, with the aim of reducing sediment discharge into Cartagena Bay. This approach seeks to mitigate negative effects on the ecosystem and improve the long-term sustainability of the Canal del Dique and its surroundings.
